Case Study: Magnificent custom made Chancellor's robe

Aura worked closely with Aston University to create a bespoke gown that complements their existing suite of officers' robes, while also being crafted to stand the test of time.
This timeless piece was proudly worn by the university’s new Chancellor during their first winter graduation ceremony.

Testimonial

"Right from the start they have been highly professional, attentive to detail and have presented a range of options based on our brief, giving us opportunity to discuss and refine our requirements at every stage. The robes themselves are of a very high quality and are an excellent fit. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the team!"

The Process

The process began with a site visit by our highly experienced tailors to take precise measurements. Following this, design concepts and fabric samples were presented, leading to the approval of a final bespoke gown.

The Chancellor’s gown was based on a traditional pattern, featuring wing sleeves with tailored T-slits, a gathered yoke with gown flap, and a distinctive gold oak leaf diamond motif along the back hem. All gold embellishments were hand-sewn, ensuring durability and longevity for years of ceremonial wear.
