Aura was commissioned by Saint Alban's Episcopal Church Los Angeles, USA in consultation with the Old English Vestment Company (OEVC) to create a comprehensive custom textile set. The set included a chasuble, dalmatic, tunicle, two veils with matching burse, two bible markers, an altar frontal, and a pulpit fall. This bespoke set was designed by OEVC to reflect the unique character and heritage of the church’s space, particularly its stained-glass window.

The set crafted by Aura in Green Glastonbury brocade, is complemented with a classic blue silk dupioni and detailed with red St. Paul’s braid. Each piece was meticulously made to order, ensuring consistency and reverence to the church’s interior.

Aura's experienced digital embroiderer created a custom, machine-embroidered gold lurex fish motif, a key design element featured across the altar frontal, chasuble, pulpit fall, and dalmatic. This appliqué design drew inspiration directly from the church’s-stained glass, incorporating:

A gold fish embroidered with lurex thread, incorporating special stitching techniques to replicate the texture of fish scales.
A red appliqué Trinity triangle embroidered in black, mirroring the black lead framework of the window.
A blue satin outer quatrefoil, framed with the signature red and gold St. Paul’s braid, completing the design with an elevated, layered effect.

Designed by OEVC and brought to life by Aura’s skilled artisans, this set required close collaboration between the design and embroidery teams to accurately capture the intricate details of the stained glass inspiration.
