Case Study: Beautiful set of bespoke church vestments

Aura was honoured to undertake a bespoke set of vestments for a prominent cathedral in the United States. This commission involved two distinct sets: a cope and mitre, and a tunicle with a matching dalmatic.

The first set—a stunning cope and mitre

Meticulously handcrafted using ivory St. Nicholas fabric. The cope features our signature shield-shaped hood, crafted in rich red Aragon tapestry and paired with matching orphreys edged in red and gold diced braid. This shaped-neck cope is lined in luxurious ivory poly satin for both comfort and elegance. The accompanying single-pillar orphrey mitre perfectly complements the cope, completing the ensemble. This magnificent set was delivered within just five weeks of the order and was proudly worn during the cathedral’s Christmas service.

Custom made Tunicle - Ivory Chelmsford St Dominic orphreys

The second set - matching tunicle and dalmatic

This set comprised of a beautifully tailored tunicle and dalmatic, crafted in ivory Chelmsford fabric. These garments were adorned with gold St. Dominic orphreys, edged in gold diced braid, adding a refined and cohesive touch to the overall design.

Summary

Throughout this project, Aura paid meticulous attention to detail to ensure the Aragon tapestry was prominently showcased and perfectly outlined, resulting in a finish that exudes stunning quality and craftsmanship.

These vestments were a pleasure to make and its simple design highlights the superb quality.
