Case Study: Custom Church Textile Set featuring Chelmsford damask and cloth of gold orphreys

Aura was commissioned by The Old English Vestment Company to produce an extensive set of custom church vestments and liturgical textiles for the Church of the Good Shepherd in Columbia, USA. The bespoke set included a chasuble with matching stole, tunicle, veil with burse, bible markers, pulpit fall, and lectern fall. Each piece was carefully designed and handcrafted to complement the church’s liturgical traditions while showcasing Aura’s expertise in custom ecclesiastical vestments.

Materials and Design

This bespoke set, crafted by Aura in ivory Chelmsford fabric, is complemented by a classic Cloth of Gold orphrey and finished with intricate gold St. Benet braid. Each piece was made to order by our skilled staff in Exeter, a classic ivory liturgical set.

Key Design Features

The pulpit fall, lectern fall, and stoles are designed using a two-tone gold, machine-embroidered entwined Alpha and Omega motif, selected from Aura's extensive ecclesiastical embroidery library. This intricate design beautifully complements the Cloth of Gold orphreys, creating a cohesive and visually striking liturgical set. The combination of rich gold tones and detailed embroidery offers a timeless addition to the church’s vestments and furnishings.
